Training Volume Calculator

Calculate training volume load from weight, sets and reps to compare workload across exercises and sessions.

Unit

Enter the weight lifted, number of sets and reps per set to calculate your training volume load.

How the Training Volume Calculator Works

Training volume load is a common way to describe the total amount of work performed in a set of exercises. FitnessScopes calculates it by multiplying the weight lifted by the number of reps and the number of sets.

Weight × reps × sets = volume load

For example, lifting 80 kg for 4 sets of 10 reps produces a volume load of 3,200 kg.

What Volume Load Does Not Capture

Volume load is a simple workload metric. It does not account for exercise difficulty, range of motion, tempo, proximity to failure, rest periods or individual response. Two sessions with the same volume load can feel and produce very different effects, so volume should be considered alongside other training context rather than in isolation.

Training volume disclaimer: Volume load is a simple workload metric and does not capture exercise difficulty, range of motion, proximity to failure or individual response. It is not a personalised training prescription.
