How the Running Pace Calculator Works
Running pace describes how long it takes to cover a set distance, usually expressed as minutes per kilometre or minutes per mile.
FitnessScopes calculates average pace by dividing the finishing time by the distance entered. The same pace is then converted between kilometres and miles, and average speed is shown in both kilometres per hour and miles per hour.
Pace vs Speed
Pace and speed describe the same movement in different ways.
Pace tells you how much time is required to cover a unit of distance, while speed tells you how much distance is covered within a unit of time.
For example, runners commonly use minutes per kilometre or minutes per mile, while treadmills and fitness equipment often display kilometres per hour or miles per hour.
